Associate Professor Philip McCahy

I am one of the leading and most innovative stone surgeons in Australasia. I have also developed the only consultant delivered local anaesthetic vasectomy service in the South-Eastern Suburbs.

I have been a consultant urologist with a special interest in stone disease for over 20 years, the first 9 in the UK where I established an award winning investigative urology unit and the first lithotripsy service in the region.

Whilst living in the UK, I was on the Court of Examiners for the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and was also involved in creating Multiple-Choice questions for the final Intercollegiate Examination in urology.

In Australia I have developed clinical services at Casey Hospital, including only the second lithotripsy service in Victoria, and have created one of the busiest stone units in Australia.

I was previously a Senior Lecturer, however, have recently been appointed as Associate Professor at the School of Clinical Sciences at Monash University.

In 2018 I was appointed as the Clinical Director of the Victorian Audit of Surgical Mortality at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, the leading surgical auditor in the state.
