Summary of this page

Dr Thornton-Bott has sub-specialised in primary and revision hip and knee replacement surgery for the last 13 years, both in the UK and in Australia. He has significant experience in both Joint Replacement and Trauma Surgery, having performed several thousand procedures.

Dr Thornton-Bott completed his Specialist Orthopaedic Training on the prestigious Oxford Training Program and was Lower Limb Specialist in Cambridgeshire before returning to Australia in 2014. He has completed two Lower Limb Arthroplasty Fellowships at the Mater Hospital, Sydney working with some of the most renowned Orthopaedic Surgeons in Australia. He has provided a public service since 1999, and continues to do so at Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital.

He has been involved in research throughout his career, presenting nationally and internationally. He is regular faculty on training courses and is committed to the teaching and development of junior doctors. He trains other Orthopaedic Surgeons both Nationally and Internationally in the Direct Anterior Approach to the Hip Replacement.

I am passionate about hip and knee replacement surgery, two of the most life-changing operations available, and have focused my orthopaedic career on these operations. Every patient is an individual. I will listen carefully to your problem, identify the cause of your pain and tailor your personal treatment.
